A Hands-On Introduction to Second Life and Select Educational Regions
Are you ready to step into Second Life? Do you want to know more about how libraries fit into this new world? Then you’re sure to enjoy and benefit from this Central Ohio Chapter, American Society for Information Science & Technology (CO-ASIS&T) workshop on Friday, October 2nd, 2009:
“A Hands-On Introduction to Second Life and Select Educational Regions”
If you would like to escape reality and discover Second Life, this hands-on workshop will guide you from setting up an account and creating your own personal avatar, to exploring a variety of educational and exciting regions. Learn how to master movements and animations, buy or rent land, alter your avatar’s appearance to match your mood, purchase Linden currency online or in-world, manage inventory, use the various screens and search features, and teleport friends. This workshop will include free time to explore and be creative in-world.
Audience: This workshop is for anyone interested in learning more about Second Life with its educational and library themed regions.
INSTRUCTOR JESSICA HEDGECOCK is a database analyst at OCLC and co-webmaster for the CO-ASIS&T web site. She is an experienced social player of Second Life and has previously presented an overview on the subject.
