Speaker: Edward Humphrys, Information Specialist, National Air Intelligence Center Mr. Humphrys discussed the historical background of machine translation, the various systems currently in development, and the misconceptions that arise over the topic of non-human translation.

Speaker: Charly Bauer, Assistant Director of Library Systems–Digital Media OhioLINK Mr. Bauer described the background and range of OhioLINK’s geospatial initiatives, and presented a live demonstration of Web-based mapping services on the eve of their public debut.

CO-ASIS&T Annual Meeting and Luncheon Speaker: Don Barlow, Library Channel Developer and Director of the Westerville Public Library Mr. Barlow discussed the issues associated with the development and implemenation of The Library Channel, a front end to online library and Internet resources.

Speaker: Judy Wagner, Associate Director ERIC Clearinghouse on Adult, Career, and Vocational Education Ms. Wagner gave a presentation on the history, goals, and objectvies of ERIC. She also showed some of the newer aspects of ERIC, including the free ERIC search sites.

Speaker: Anita Cook, Director of Library Systems, OhioLINK OhioLINK is building a reservoir of electronic full text of journal literature. This is being done by contracting directly with publishers for the rights to load full text and make it fully accessible to the OhioLINK consortium members without copyright restrictions.
