SIG AI Workshop Update
The 2021 ASIS&T SIG AI Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Information Research and Practice: Fostering Interconnected Communities workshop will take place on Saturday, October 30 from 8 AM to 12 PM Mountain Time. The workshop will include an expert panel, 22 lightning talks, a brainstorming session, breakout groups, and plenary discussion. SIG AI Workshop at ASIS&T 2021

Saturday, October 30, 2021, 8 AM - 12 PM Mountain Time
This half-day workshop aims to support and advance an ASIS&T artificial intelligence (AI) community by connecting AI research and practice in library and information environments. We invite a broad range of participants who are engaged in developing AI applications and solutions, or study their impacts and/or interested in learning about the opportunities and challenges in AI research and development. Through a panel discussion, lightning talks, a brainstorming session, breakout group conversations, and a plenary discussion, the workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to obtain feedback on preliminary and ongoing work, identify pressing challenges and critical questions of AI in library and information environments, and develop new research problems and approaches.
This workshop is sponsored by ASIS&T's new Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence (SIG AI).
Abstract Submissions:
We encourage participants to submit an extended abstract (a maximum of 500 words), which will be published at the workshop website. Submission of an abstract is highly recommended, but not required. Only participants who submit an abstract will have an opportunity to present a lightning talk at the workshop. Please submit your abstract by completing this Qualtrics form.
Abstract may cover one or more aspects of AI including research questions, empirical findings, methodological approaches, applications, solutions, best practices, tools, products, discussion on a specific issue, future directions, and impact and challenges of AI in library and information environments.

In-Person/Virtual registration rates for ASIST members and non-members can be found here: www.asist.org/am21/registration. Workshop rates will increase by $25 after August 13.
