- Voted NO on ISO New work item proposal: Emergency preparedness and response for cultural heritage – with the following comments:1) Before developing a new document for cultural heritage
material an investigation should be undertaken to determine if the document for library and archival material could also apply to cultural heritage material2) If a document for cultural heritage material is going to be developed and its going to be anything like the one (ISO 11799) for library and archival material it hardly merits being an ISO standard. ISO 11799 is merely a collection of useful (sometimes common sense) suggestions and advice that hardly merits being an ISO standard since it doesnt really standardize or mandate anything. Its a useful document that provides some potentially helpful advice and guidance and might make sense being published as a technical report or advisory document but hardly deserves the status of an ISO standard – If a similar document is defined for cultural heritage material and contains the same type of material that is in ISO 11799 it would fall into the same category
