We're delighted to announce that our next training series - Assessment Practices and Metrics in a 21st Century Pandemic - starts on September 18. Running from 11.30am - 1.00pm ET for eight weeks, through November 6, the 2020 version of this popular course will explore planning, management, and assessment practices in libraries during COVID-19. Topics covered will include effective practices for planning for library spaces, collections, services, and strategic innovations, with guest lecturers focusing on what the shifts we are going through mean for the 21st century library and the way we assess and measure our success.
We're happy to say that Martha Kyrillidou will once again be moderating this training series. As well as consulting on management, evaluation, assessment, and R&D activities, Martha is also a Research Associate at the iSchool, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and teaches Research Methods at Kent State University.
Martha will be joined by expert guest speakers including: C. Colleen Cook, Trenholme Dean of Libraries, McGill University; Elaine Louise Westbrooks, Vice Provost & University Librarian, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Bob Fox, Dean of Libraries, University of Louisville; Lorraine J. Harricombe, Vice Provost and Director, UT Libraries, University of Texas - Austin; and Karen Stiles, Senior Library Manager, The Open University.

If so, we encourage you to complete a short questionnaire investigating research conducted in several scientific and social scientific arenas addressing the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.
The purpose of the survey is to gauge both the extent to which research is being conducted and the kinds of research that are aimed at addressing the impact of the pandemic. It is essential that the research communities come to know what research and collaboration are occurring at this time of continual change and uncertainty. Your participation in this survey is vital for provision of a clear picture of the research environment. Only approximately 10 (ten) minutes of your time is requested.

AIDR 2020 Symposium:
Artificial Intelligence for Data Discovery and Reuse

AIDR aims to bring all stakeholders together to find innovative solutions to accelerate the dissemination and reuse of scientific data in the data revolution. Last year, supported by the NSF scientific data reuse initiative, the inaugural AIDR 2019 attracted AI/ML researchers, data and information professionals, scientists from a wide range of disciplines, and the technology industry, to share innovative AI tools, algorithms, and applications to make data more discoverable and reusable, and to discuss mutual challenges in data sharing and reuse.
This year, we are following up with a one-day, virtual AIDR 2020 Symposium that provides a place for the community to continue having these conversations and work together to build a healthy data ecosystem.
The program will feature invited talks and panel discussions from a variety of disciplines by our lineup of world class speakers, including a focused session on issues related to COVID-19 data. Audience members are highly encouraged to join the conversation by submitting a poster or demo, participating in panel discussions and virtual social hours, and connecting on Slack.
